Joining the Lansbury Players

Why not consider joining us? We're always glad to welcome new members, whether you have a burning ambition to tread the boards, or would just like to help out. Our membership is drawn from across the Borough of Tower Hamlets, and further afield. There are no special requirements for entry - enthusiasm is the only essential - and you don't have to serve a five-year apprenticeship before you are allowed a leading part.

A seedy flat is the base of operations in Audacity

It's possible to give as much or as little time as you want. Obviously for some jobs in a show there is a certain level of commitment required, but there are other ways to be involved - designing posters and programmes, helping out backstage or with front-of-house - you don't have to give up every free evening for months at a time.

We'd like to increase the size of the group back to where it was a few years ago - if we have sufficient people, we can not only stage larger shows, but also more of them. The goal is that we should be able to have two or more shows in the pipeline simultaneously, which will give more people the chance to shine, perhaps where they never expected to find themselves!

How to join? Well, it couldn't be easier. Just turn up to one of our regular rehearsals and see if you like the look of us! We'll have a quick interview (OK, chat) with you to see what your aspirations are, and probably you'll join in as we read from a play. We are at at the Teviot Community Centre (directions here) 7-10pm most Wednesdays. It's probably best to check first in case of changes (e.g. we're working at a show venue) - for this or any other question, try mail@lansburyplayers.org.uk

We hope to see you soon!
