Lansbury Players

The Lansbury Players is one of the foremost local theatre companies in East London - the only adult company in Tower Hamlets. We are based in the heart of the borough, though some of our members are drawn from much further afield.

Our name is taken from the inspirational local politician George Lansbury, who also gave his name to the Lansbury Estate where the group was formed.

Although we are a group made up of ordinary people from the area, we expect to, and do, achieve the highest standards in performance - but somehow we have a lot of fun on the way.

We aim to put on an ambitious range of shows in the borough and outside. We should be able to provide a challenging outlet not only for actors but also for those interested in any other aspect of theatre - technical roles, backstage, direction and production.

For our audience, we want to be accessible to those who might not think of themselves as "theatre-goers", while maintaining our reputation for uncompromising high standards.
