Venue details: the Teviot Neighbourhood Centre

Poplar Harca Logo

The Teviot Neighbourhood Centre is set in the heart of the Teviot Estate. Allow a little extra time to find it on your first visit! The good news is that with the opening of the new Langdon Park DLR station, it is much more accessible than ever before.

Address:

The Teviot Centre
Wyvis Street
Poplar E14 6QD

Maps:

Take your pick - these are courtesy of:

maps.google.co.uk - showing the route from A13 and All Saints DLR
maps.google.co.uk - showing the route from Bromley-By-Bow and Devons Rd
streetmap.co.uk
multimap.co.uk

Note that all these maps point to the primary school on the opposite side of the road (Wyvis St).

Getting there by car:

On the A13 coming from London, turn left at Chrisp St traffic lights and right at Willis St (a bridge over the DLR lines). Immediately left into Hay Currie then immediately right into Burcham St (you should have some sort of sports area on your left). After that turn left up St Leonard’s Road, and keep going for a while. You'll see a school on your right, and the next right is Wyvis St - the Centre is on your left.

There is plenty of on-street parking around, with no restrictions at the times we're normally there (?though it may be residents-only until 5.30 Mon-Fri?).

Coming from the north down the A12, it's probably best to continue down almost as far as the tunnel, but turn off for the A13 (just follow the signs) - head towards Central London and turn right at Chrisp St (opposite All Saints DLR), and follow the instructions above.

Alternative routes: you can come off the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach, aka A12, but only from the northbound side; there's also an underpass from Abbot Road on the Aberfeldy Estate - but these may require a sense of adventure to navigate.

Getting there by tube/rail:

Nearest DLR is Langdon Park – sorry, I haven't tried walking this route yet!

A regular Underground is fairly near – Bromley-by-Bow (District / Hammersmith+City) – from there just walk alongside the A12 and turn right onto Teviot St. Follow to the left, turn right into Venue St, and the Centre is more or less in front of you. TFL claims this walk takes about 17 mins, which is not too challenging a speed.

Getting there by bus:

There are also buses - number 15 and others along the A13 to All Saints; 108 along A12; and the 309 which seems to stop one street away from the Centre.
