These two comic one-act plays will be staged at The Space on 8th-10th October 2009.

Anorak of Fire, subtitled “The Life and Times of Gus Gascoigne, Trainspotter”, is a peek into the mind of a very serious spotter; Purvis tells of a very hapless would-be Health and Safety Officer.

“I was born a spotter”. Gus is a cheerful young man who is completely bemused by anything that is not related to his sole interest - trainspotting.

Gus talks about the problems and joys of night spotting, why relationships and spotting are incompatible and his treasured anorak, handed down to him by the famous spotter and chicken-catcher, Jim O’Rourke.

Purvis

by Nick Warburton
Directed by Lynn Ramsey

The cast: Michelle Sansom, John Wain
Director: Lynn Ramsey, Costume: Christine Holliss, Set: Gordon Banner

Down trodden vicar’s wife Rachel meets the recently widowed Mr Purvis and offers him the post of the church’s Health and Safety Officer.

Purvis is very keen but his misguided attempts to make the vicarage a safer place leave a trail of accidents, the vicar being his prime victim.

Rachel, exasperated by Purvis’ mistakes, grows in confidence as their friendship deepens.
